Today P6/7 had a great afternoon with RSPB Ranger Sarah White, exploring the wildlife in our wonderful pond as part of our topic on Water.
After learning about wetland ecosystems the pupils went pond-dipping, and found a very impressive collection of creatures already residing in our newly refurbished pond. Tadpoles, various types of larvae, water beetles and pond-skaters were found, all indicating a very healthy pond!
All the finds were recorded as a base-line survey, so that next year we can do a further survey to see if the number and variety of creatures have increased.
Thanks Sarah for a very enjoyable and interesting afternoon!
